Does Self-Improvement For Women Mean More Wealth?

Self-improvement is defined as the improvement of one's mind, knowledge, status, or character through one's own efforts, and wealth is defined as a great quantity or store of money, valuable possessions, property, or other riches.
But does self-improvement lead to wealth?
As a Certified Public Accountant who has worked with money and wealth, and a woman who has been on a self-improvement journey for many years, I have found that it doesn't necessarily mean I automatically have the level of wealth I desire.
Why is that?
Is It Limiting Beliefs?
I have heard it said many times that the main culprit is limiting beliefs deep in our subconscious mind about money and wealth, such as:
  • Money wasn't talked about in the home or was a negative subject when growing up.
  • Money, wealth, or wealthy people are considered ungodly, dirty or evil.
  • Feelings of unworthiness or being undeserving due to low self-esteem.
  • Not believing they are smart or educated enough.
  • Believing there is never enough.
  • Believing the bible says money is evil.
Anyone can have these limiting beliefs, and there are many known techniques (i.e. EFT) to clear or eliminate them.
The Unique Problem For Women
But for a lot of women, there is a unique problem when it comes to wealth building that may just be what is holding them back from wealth. Let me explain.
Even though women now have the most freedom than we have ever experienced in history, most of us have not embraced financial freedom so we can build the life of our dreams. Why is that?
We're Raised That Way!
Based on tradition, women are raised to inherently believe that somehow our financial well-being will be taken care of by others (i.e. marry, inherit).
Because of this, most women aren't taught how to build their own wealth, or even think to learn it on their own.
But We Don't Live That Way!
However, more and more, women are becoming the head of the household due to widowhood, divorce, single parenting, loss of job of the male head of house due to illness or layoff, and lack of child support from an ex, among other reasons.
Building wealth is crucial to not only enjoy life now, but to avoid poverty later in life.
Is Self-Improvement The Answer?
Self-improvement may not necessarily lead to wealth, but it can lead you to uncover the things that are holding you back from having, creating, building, and keeping wealth consistently.
So, if you're a woman on a self-improvement journey, and your wealth isn't improving in spite of your best efforts, consider this inherent belief that you will somehow be taken care of. It might just be what is keeping you from the wealth you desire.
